No Bases, No Problem

The Iraqi government has “put the U.S. on notice” that they do not want permanent U.S. bases in Iraq, CNN reports today. The message was “delivered directly to Vice President Dick Cheney at the White House” by Iraqi National Security Adviser Mowaffak Al-Rubaie, who told CNN that Iraqis say, “No, big fat no, N-O for the bases in Iraq”
Silly Iraqis. I have no idea why they even said this. We do not seek permanent military bases in the country, and to my knowledge we never have sought them.
What we would like to do, however, is build a few Embassies with just a few (say, 150K or so) security personnel and their equipment.
Can't be too careful, what with all the Islamofascist Savages running around.
