Neopartisan and Thoroughly Amateur

It's all about Win %, and Obama has it hands down.

The Republicans can try all they want to besmirch Obama's character and past, but at this point there is no doubt that he has a commanding lead in the polls due to the utter economic failure of our country under the Republicans' watch.

It's going to be pretty much impossible, barring a MAJOR gaffe (Biden, watch your P's & Q's tonight...), for McCain to make any significant headway so close to the election.

How is it that Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson commit fraud but go to work for Obama instead of going to prison? The committed crimes just like the guys at Enron, Worldcom, and Tyco but had larger ramifications on the financial markets yet they are not even being investigated for any wrong doing?

What is wrong with this picture?

StB, my counterpart here on Verbosities, recently stated that McCain was showing "leadership instead of standing around with his finger up his nose like Obama".

Here's the exchange in the comments:

Yeah typical politics. He was actually showing leadership instead of standing around with a finger up his nose like Obama.

I like how you didn't include the next line of the story with McCain talking about Obama's lack of leadership by doing absolutely nothing. At least he tried to find a solution and didn't seek out the media to cover up inaction unlike some candidates.

As opposed to sweeping in and making things even worse?

McCain/Bush can't even keep their own political house in order!

Look at the votes, StB. You have a sitting President saying that they need to vote for this bill, then you have the GOP Presidential Nominee coming in and saying vote for this bill, and the House Republicans cut and run.

Yeah, THAT'S leadership...

Not only do you have Palin having the worst week of her brief, national, political career for not answering actual questions about actual issues, you ALSO have McCain taking credit for a bailout plan that got shot down by his own party, even though he and Bush were 100% for it.

How is that leadership? It's not. Bush and McCain, the two top ranking officials in the GOP can't get their Republican "allies" to actually vote on a bill they support?

C'mon, StB, admit it: When it comes to politics, the left hand of your party doesn't even realize that there is a right hand that is doing the opposite.

McCain takes credit for bill before it loses-

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and his top aides took credit for building a winning bailout coalition – hours before the vote failed and stocks tanked.

The rush to claim he had engineered a victory now looks like a strategic blunder that will prolong the McCain’s campaign’s difficulty in finding a winning message on the economy.

Shortly before the vote, McCain had bragged about his involvement and mocked Sen. Barack Obama for staying on the sidelines.

“I’ve never been afraid of stepping in to solve problems for the American people, and I’m not going to stop now,” McCain told a rally in Columbus, Ohio. “Sen. Obama took a very different approach to the crisis our country faced. At first he didn’t want to get involved. Then he was monitoring the situation.”
McCain, grinning, flashed a sarcastic thumbs up.

Typical McCain politics here, folks. Take credit for something you had nothing to do with, and then have your camp do a 180 and tell the world it was the other guys' fault when things go to all to hell.

You really want four (more) years of this?

It seems funny around here. Months ago there were posts about invasion of privacy and how we are losing our rights because of the Bush administration. Now Barack Obama is using his people to squelch free speech in multiple states but no one is howling about this. The man is just a candidate and yet he has tried to get the Justice Department to prevent people for dispensing facts about Obama. And not a post about how Obama is abusing power he doesn't have and is taking your freedom of speech away.

He has done it in Texas and Illinois. Now Obama is trying to do it again in Missouri.

“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit
Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the
leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the
stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.
“What Senator
Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that
claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and
offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of
prosecution and criminal punishment.
“This abuse of the law for intimidation
insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of
nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state
to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose
of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from
expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and
donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to
strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher
taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs,
e-mail and daily conversation about the election.
“Barack Obama needs to
grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about
me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations
because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them.
Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is
reminiscent of the Sedition Acts - not a free society.”

And now he has struck again. In Virginia.

Suddenly your right don't matter? Why the sudden hypocrisy? The first amendment doesn't matter?

You were all about constitutional right until YOUR guy started trampling on them. I'd mention how the ACLU should step in but the truth is they want this communist to get elected.
