Milwaukee Journal Sentinel> Obama urges Congress to delay digital transition amid coupon shortage

Barack Obama's transition team sent a letter to Congress on Thursday asking
that the shutdown of analog broadcasting be delayed past the Feb. 17
deadline.
Wrote John Podesta, who heads Obama's transition team: "With
coupons unavailable, support and education insufficient, and the most vulnerable
Americans exposed, I urge you to consider a change to the legislatively mandated
analog cutoff date."

Because taking the right to television (which amendment guarantees this right again?) is one of the most important things to do. Not taking action may cripple the signal converter industry because no one will buy a box. We can't have that can we?

Does Podesta really believe what he is saying? Support and education insufficient, leaving vulnerable Americans exposed. He really can't believe this bullshit can he? In Milwaukee, you can't watch any show without a commercial or notice coming on the screen talking about how the switch to digital was coming in February of 2009. This started back in June. How can people not know this is happening when they see this hundreds of times a week. How could this "education" have been insufficient?

And exactly how is someone vulnerable if they don't have TV. I bet one contributor here would argue they are more vulnerable for watching TV. Just another way for the left to make sure we continue on our path to being a nanny state.

Also, not being able to get a coupon is no excuse. If you waited too long to act it is your own fault. It isn't like you can show up at a store to buy a product and be guaranteed to get one after they have run out.

Obama insists that people be able to watch the boob tube so they can bask in his glory. Plus he does not want to piss off those networks that worked so hard to get him elected. If they switch to digital now their ratings could fall. Just another way for The One to feed his ego.

Good to see Obama is going to tackle the major issues that face the nation on Day 1.
